ADVOCACY-VIDEO SEMINAR
ADVOCACY-VIDEO SEMINAR, April 13, 2008.
Become aware it is a myth that the moving image language of video is only for the specially gifted, or elite few; anyone who has learned a language can also learn to be fluent with the visual language of video. Explore the dynamic uses of video for advocacy work. This seminar is designed to inspire you to use the most powerful language of the age as a tool for the advancement of your particular advocacy, from community and human resource development, values education, education in general, health care, women’s issues, peace building, human rights, preservation of the environment, arts and culture...all towards the uplifting of consciousness and social change.
Resource speaker will be Surf Reyes, who was the founding director of Mowelfund Film Institute, and founding president of LOVE Foundation (Laboratory On Value Education). Surf has over 30 years of experience in film and video production, and is the Director/Cinematographer/Editor of his own company Cintel Productions. He has been teaching film and video making in schools and universities, and holding workshops around the country on advocacy video. Surf is 2007 Gawad Daluyan awardee of the Independent Filmmakers Cooperative (IFC) “For being a constant source of influence and whose life-long efforts in promoting, inspiring and educating filmmakers and the audience are crucial to the development of the independent community.” For more info on Surf and his past workshops, go to www.advocacyvideo.easyduzzit.comSeminar will be held in Merced Bakeshop, EDSA near the corner of Quezon Ave. Fee is 250 pesos for each of the first 20

You don't have to be a superhero to tackle climate change. We can reduce green house gas emission by doing nothing!!! Through Silence. This is inspired by the Nyepi or Silent day practiced by people in Bali for many centuries, even now. For 24 hours people do not travel, work or light the lamps at night. One Silent Day in Bali is estimated to reduce at least 20,000 tons of CO2, the largest contributor of green house gas. Please see www.worldsilentday.org.
